Concrete driveway cost
A standard concrete driveway can cost around $9–$13 per square foot. A 20-by-20-foot driveway gives you 400 square feet of parking space, putting the starting budget at $3,600–$5,200 before removal or extra site work.
| Dimensions | Area | Estimated budget |
|---|---|---|
| 12 × 25 feet | 300 sq ft | $2,700–$3,900 |
| 20 × 20 feet | 400 sq ft | $3,600–$5,200 |
| 20 × 30 feet | 600 sq ft | $5,400–$7,800 |
| 24 × 40 feet | 960 sq ft | $8,640–$12,480 |
Replacing an old driveway involves more than pouring new concrete. Removal, haul-off, grading and access can add to the price. Stamped patterns, color and borders also cost more than a basic finish. We discuss those details when preparing your estimate.
Concrete patio cost
A broom-finished patio is a practical choice at around $8–$14 per square foot. For patterns and color, allow around $14–$22 per square foot for stamped concrete.
| Patio size | Area | Broom finish | Stamped finish |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 × 12 feet | 120 sq ft | $960–$1,680 | $1,680–$2,640 |
| 12 × 20 feet | 240 sq ft | $1,920–$3,360 | $3,360–$5,280 |
| 20 × 20 feet | 400 sq ft | $3,200–$5,600 | $5,600–$8,800 |
Walkways and driveway extensions
Allow around $10–$16 per square foot for a concrete walkway. A 4-by-30-foot walkway contains 120 square feet, giving you an estimated budget of $1,200–$1,920. Steps, changes in level and connections to other surfaces require their own scope.
For a driveway extension, budget around $8–$14 per square foot. A 10-by-20-foot extension is 200 square feet, or $1,600–$2,800 before any additional removal or preparation.
Why there is no single repair price
A small surface repair and a sunken section of driveway need different work. We inspect the damage, check the surrounding concrete and explain the repair or replacement options before quoting a price.
Seven things to compare in a concrete estimate
- Measured area
- Existing surface
- Preparation
- Specification
- Finish
- Access and extras
- Project terms
Calculate a starting budget
Multiply length by width to get square feet. Then multiply that area by the low and high estimated rates for the project. For example, 12 × 20 = 240 square feet; at $8–$14, the result is $1,920–$3,360.
